Romans 12:4-5 “For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”
As one part in the whole body of believers you play a significant role in this community. Whether you are the person rocking babies in the nursery or you are the pastor on the stage; God has called you specifically according to his purposes.
1. We are Created to serve
- Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
2. We are Gifted to serve
- 1 Peter 4:10 “As each of you has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”
3. There is Community in Service
- Hebrews 10: 24-25 “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
And lastly
4. This is how we are identified with Christ
- John 13:34-35 “ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my discipled, if you have love for one another.”
- John 15:8 “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples…”
Serving God’s people is an important aspect of our worship and everyone has a role that they can fill. If you are not sure where you fit or how you are gifted a good place to start is with the spiritual gifts assessment and reaching out to your church leaders.
Many Blessings
