The Church
First Baptist Church of Joplin is a 100+ year old institution. Our average total attendance for Sunday worship service is around 350. We have recently completed Phase 2 of our building program, which consists of our Children's Ministry and Education wing. Our Sunday Worship Services are now held on campus in our Family Life Center, with plans in the upcoming years to build a sanctuary.
The Community
Joplin was originally established as a lead and zinc mining center in Southwest Missouri. The mining industry is gone but Joplin is now the economic leader of the area. With a population of 52,000 it is the home of a variety of educational, business, and industrial institutions. We are about an hour from Springfield, MO and Rogers, AR, and about 1 1/2 hours from Tulsa, OK.
